The rain left the second race of GP2 and Rodriguez had again a remarkable performance ending up 4th, behind the winner Conway, Tung and Parente. With this performance, the Spaniard adds up 3 new points that rise him to the 13th position in the general rankings, being the first of the Spanish drivers after the first 6 races.
Without a doubt this has been a reward for what it’s been a weekend without mistakes, where the team has worked a great deal to offer Roldan a car capable of being among the first placings. In the second race Roldan got started from the third position, but he lost some tenths during the start which led Parente to pass him-
Roldan did alright for the 30 laps, handling the attacks from Bruno Senna, winner that Friday. At the end, with a fast pathed race and without committing ay mistakes, he took his car until the 4th position. The Spaniard explained his “lack of experience” shown in the beginning of the race: “The wheels slide a bit. The day was a bit cooler and as since sometimes I’ve being starting from behind I hardly had time to cool the tires off”.
Lucky enough, he could put up with the race path from the beginning, “ the problem here it’s to not lose focus. I was all the time to the limit to be able to strike some free run those above and behind me and on my back was Senna all the time, although he didn’t put me in serious difficulties at any time”.
Roldan realized that he never hit the fences, “it’s been a couple of times that I’ve been very close, but I did never hit them”. Lastly, Roldan showed how satisfied he was following Monaco, “I knew results had to come because I was working hard for it, with good speed. If I was happy before, now, with this result, I’m even happier”.
