Spaniard Roldan Rodriguez displayed his quality on the wheels and won the first of the two races from the F3000 Euroseries Championship held in Valencia. Invited at the last minute by Tandredi Pagiaro, the driver payed the honour back with a win for the Italian team, as well as the leadership in the championship, even though he had no raced in Spa, as his victory in Vallelunga during the first race is also added.
Despite the terrible heat, Roldan managed to get first at the Doohan curve, and for the next 18 laps he could handle pressure made by Brazilian Guimaraes, whom started the race from the pole. Even Roldan admitted “this wasn’t an easy race, I had to hold the Brazilian for the first part of the race. After that I had more aventaje”.
