july 10th, 2009

The driver from Valladolid Roldan Rodriguez (Piquet GP) will start tomorrow from the second place in the first race of the fifth date of the GP2 championship, to be held in German Nurburgring as we passed by the German Nico Huklenberg by 89 thousandth.

During the practice, held that morning, the Spaniard made the third best time, and later that very day, during the qualifiers, he was second, only second to Hulkenberg.

During the qualifiers when they were close to finish, Rodriguez was first, but Hulkenberg then came out and got the pole near the end.

From the second line will start tomorrow the Brazilian Di grassi (Racing Engineering) as third, and the Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado (ART Grand Prix). The leader, Frenchman Romain Grosjean (Barwa Adax) will be tomorrow on fourteenth place. Russian Vitaly Petrov, his partner in the Spanish team and second in the overall ranking.

Roldan Rodriguez pointed out “I’m very happy. I can assure you I haven’t done anything amazing. I’ve driven like I usually do”. “I entered the curves as usually. But when the car is fast, you ge ton top. The car was ready to be among the first 4 to 5 places and there we are” added Rodriguez whom also said that he was in Nurburgring “to make a good performance”. “The car is working alright and I have to profit from it. They changed the engine before coming and now it’s just perfect, so tomorrow I’m killing it” he said. About which weather Works better for him he said that “I don’t care. If it rains we’ll use the tires we need to use. If it doesn’t rain, then it will be a more predictable race. If it rains, there’s nothing we can do about it”.

As he was going through the first races of the championship, Rodriguez marked that “truth is, without taking Istanbul into account, where we didn’t go too fast, in the rest of the races there were exogenous problems. I just hope we don’t get any more of those problems. When one goes fast and you’re having problems, you’re less in control of things. So I just hope we’re problem free from now on”, he concluded.
